From the beginning of April through early May, ICF's co-founders will conduct their annual site visits to the Top7 Intelligent Communities of 2013. The site visits serve to validate the information provided in detailed questionnaires submitted by the communities after they were named to the Smart21, and to identify the many subtle social and cultural factors that underpin their success. It is also a chance for ICF to introduce local leaders to the network of 120 Intelligent Communities around the world and to begin connecting them to their peers for knowledge sharing and economic development.
Louis Zacharilla flies to Taiwan in April to visit both Taoyuan County and Taichung City. John Jung is assigned to Europe and will visit Talllin, Estonia and Oulu, Finland. Covering North America, Robert Bell visits Columbus, Ohio, USA and both Stratford and Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario. Following the site visits, the co-founders write reports which are considered by ICF's international jury in making their determination on the Intelligent Community of the Year.
