SolarMax LED Outshines World-Class Field to Capture Caltrans Roadway Lighting Contract

DIAMOND BAR, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SolarMax LED, through its wholly owned subsidiary ActOne Communications, Inc., has landed a multi-million dollar California Department of Transportation contract to replace more than 29,000 aging street lights with the Southern California company’s leading-edge, high-efficiency LED luminaires. Initial work will focus on public roadways and arterials across Sacramento County.

Terms of the $4 million-plus contract are being finalized. SolarMax LED and Caltrans officials are planning to begin the conversion process this summer.

The progressive nature of the project attracted some of the biggest companies in the LED industry, including GE Lighting and Philips. Many of the nine pre-qualified bidders viewed it as a prime opportunity to showcase their latest energy saving solutions. In the end, Caltrans selected the SolarMax LED subsidiary, one of the early-stage innovators in LED technology and applications.
