Building the Broadband Economy is an international summit attracting attendees from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.  Produced in partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, it is a unique opportunity to learn from the world’s most dynamic communities how to use information and communications technology to build prosperous, inclusive and sustainable communities.

In 2009, the global recession is our theme – in particular the ability of Intelligent Communities to respond locally to global crisis.  No community is immune from macroeconomic change.  But the steps that Intelligent Communities take to build prosperity and inclusion also prepare them to weather the economic storm.  At BBE 2009, you will hear from award-winning communities how they have battled tough times and gain insight into their strategies and results.

BBE 2009 features keynote speeches from distinguished political leaders, academics and technology experts, as well as interactive panel discussions and community case studies.  It is also the site of annual networking and recognition events including:

  • The Intelligent Communities of the World Alumni Dinner, celebrating the achievements of communities around the globe
  • The Top Seven Intelligent Communities Reception, honoring the finalists for the Intelligent Community of the Year Award
