Edmonton data fanatic animates a century of city growth in 6 seconds
A self-professed Edmonton data nerd has managed to capture a century of city growth in six seconds flat.
Using the city's open data portal, Eugene Chen created an animated map of Edmonton that tracks building construction in the city from 1917 to 2017.
"It's definitely fascinating to see the growth of Edmonton as it reaches out to the outer parts of the city," said Chen, a member of the analytical team at Darkhorse Analytics.

The Waterfront Shores proposal, unanimously approved by council over three others June 13, based on the recommendation of city staff, calls for 1,292 condominium units spread across 20 buildings along with commercial, institutional and community spaces to be built on a 5.24-hectare development property. The consortium is composed of Cityzen Development Corporation, Fernbrook Homes Group, GFL Environmental Inc. and Greybrook Realty Partners Inc.

Quebec City soars above the rest of Canada in an internet speed test — with Montreal trailing behind at 14th.
Tech website PCMag used data from its online speed test to gather just under 12,000 results between September 2017 and June 5, 2018 to figure out which city has the fastest internet speed in Canada.
According to the results, Quebec City leads the pack with an average of over three times the speed in Gatineau, the runner up. Toronto and Ottawa placed sixth and eighth, respectively, and Montreal didn’t even make the top 10, landing at 14th place.
