The research measured cities according to metrics essential for young entrepreneurs, including the availability of funding at the early stages of a business, ease of registering property, trading across borders, diversity, and the cost of living.

Hamilton City Council has formally endorsed a mixed-use development vision proposed for the city’s Pier 8 by Waterfront Shore Corporation, signifying the end of a competitive procurement process and the start of a pre-construction phase that could see shovels in the ground as early as next year.

The Waterfront Shores proposal, unanimously approved by council over three others June 13, based on the recommendation of city staff, calls for 1,292 condominium units spread across 20 buildings along with commercial, institutional and community spaces to be built on a 5.24-hectare development property. The consortium is composed of Cityzen Development Corporation, Fernbrook Homes Group, GFL Environmental Inc. and Greybrook Realty Partners Inc.

Quebec City soars above the rest of Canada in an internet speed test — with Montreal trailing behind at 14th.

Tech website PCMag used data from its online speed test to gather just under 12,000 results between September 2017 and June 5, 2018 to figure out which city has the fastest internet speed in Canada.

According to the results, Quebec City leads the pack with an average of over three times the speed in Gatineau, the runner up. Toronto and Ottawa placed sixth and eighth, respectively, and Montreal didn’t even make the top 10, landing at 14th place.

Accenture on Wednesday opened its Cyber Fusion Center in Arlington, a facility designed to help organizations to defend against data breaches and cyberattacks.
