New York - 21 October 2014 – The Intelligent Community Forum today named the world’s Smart21 Communities of 2015. This select group of communities will now be in contention for the prestigious designation of Intelligent Community of the Year in June 2015.

Oulu, Finland - The Intelligent Community Forum and the University of Oulu are announcing the launch of a new research collaboration to study innovation platforms and innovative policies in three of ICF’s top-level Intelligent Communities. The study will be conducted in the cities of Taichung, Taiwan; Eindhoven, Netherlands and Oulu, Finland.

The 2014 recipient was Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The three-day event is an international gathering of mayors, chief administrative officers, chief information officers and economic development officers from cities, states and regions around the world that are designated as Intelligent Communities by the Intelligent Community Forum.

New York, New York – February 25, 2014 – The Intelligent Community Forum announces that it welcomes Dr. Norman Jacknis, a former Top7 Intelligent Community CIO and Cisco director, as its first Senior Fellow.

Dr. Jacknis will be responsible for the Intelligent Community Forum’s Rural Imperative program that focuses on how to use information and communication technologies to build and create a renaissance of rural life. For the first time in history, these technologies make possible rural communities where residents can be as closely connected to the global economy as urbanites.

The Intelligent Community Forum announced today that the Mayor of Taichung, Taiwan, Dr. Jason Hu will give the annual “Revolutionary Community” keynote address at the 2014 Summit of the Intelligent Community Forum in New York City on June 5. Now in his third consecutive term, Mayor Hu, a former Foreign Minister of Taiwan and an internationally known political figure, led Taichung to the 2013 Intelligent Community of the Year award. The Intelligent Community of the Year serves as the global model for cities seeking to build economic and social advantages based on broadband and information technology.
