Even the world’s top fashion magazine is endorsing Walla Walla.

Just four months after being listed by Travel + Leisure as one of the 50 Best Places to Travel in 2018, Walla Walla has made headlines with Vogue.

“Why Walla Walla, Washington Should be Your Next Wine Region Vacation” went live on the magazine’s website around 3:30 p.m. Friday in coverage that even shocked local wine and tourism officials.

Duravant LLC in Downers Grove announced the completion of its acquisition of Key Technology Inc., a designer and manufacturer of digital sorting, inspection, conveying and processing equipment, for $26.75 per share in cash, without interest, and net of applicable withholding of taxes.

Duravant, a global engineered equipment and automation solutions provider to the food processing, packaging and material handling sectors, first announced the acquisition agreement on Jan. 25.

Between meme-spewing bots, concerns about fake news and the constant presence of Donald Trump’s Twitter feed on the morning news, social media played an outsized role in the political news of the day in 2017. On a smaller scale, social media has also found new routes into Walla Walla politics.

Local elections and politics have been low-key affairs online in Walla Walla over the past several years, but new Council members are pushing those frontiers.
