Yunlin County has been named one of the Top7 Intelligent Communities of 2026 by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), officially advancing to the final stage of the selection process for the annual Intelligent Community of the Year award.

The farms and fisheries of Yunlin County produce the food that feeds Taiwan, and its natural beauty and ancient temples are a tourist magnet. But its future is threatened by the aging of its agricultural workforce and the departure of too many young people seeking career opportunities beyond the county’s borders.

County government has met the challenge through partnerships with universities, colleges and national government programs. Together, they are bringing technology solutions to improve productivity and enable fewer workers to do more. They are grounding students in STEAM technologies, connecting education to employment and providing pathways for young entrepreneurs to prosper without leaving home.
