The Intelligent Community Forum announced today that the Mayor of Taichung, Taiwan, Dr. Jason Hu will give the annual “Revolutionary Community” keynote address at the 2014 Summit of the Intelligent Community Forum in New York City on June 5. Now in his third consecutive term, Mayor Hu, a former Foreign Minister of Taiwan and an internationally known political figure, led Taichung to the 2013 Intelligent Community of the Year award. The Intelligent Community of the Year serves as the global model for cities seeking to build economic and social advantages based on broadband and information technology.
“We are honored to have Dr. Hu provide our Revolutionary Community address,” said ICF co-founder Louis Zacharilla. “I have had the pleasure of visiting Taichung twice over the past year. It is an exciting city. The mayor’s vision, energy and determination have been vital to the city’s exceptional progress. We look forward to having him in New York to share his latest ideas on governance and, as he always does, turn conventional wisdom all the way around!”
The ICF Summit is an international gathering of mayors, CIOs, tech leaders, urban planners and economic development officials from cities, states and regions around the world. The Summit offers the chance to engage in a dialogue with the key people from the world’s most dynamic communities. The Intelligent Community Forum’s Master Class workshop is the core content of the Summit. It is complemented by social events that bring the 126 “alumni” communities of the Intelligent Community Foundation together to share ideas and best practices.
The Summit will include the Top7 Intelligent Communities Dinner, and the presentation of the Intelligent Community Awards including the 2014 Intelligent Community of the Year.
The theme of this year’s program is “Community as Canvas.” The Intelligent Community Forum believes that when Intelligent Communities seek to chart a new economic course culture is of fundamental importance. The culture of the community forms the starting point for every program and project. The community becomes a canvas, according to an ICF white paper of the same name, where new ideas that borrow from the strengths of the people are used as a natural resource to produce knowledge-based services and programs.
