ICF Global Institute in Taiwan Offers New Programs and Guidance on City Policies

Guiding Policy in Hsinchu County

Taiwan’s Hsinchu County, located in northern Taiwan, invited the ICF Institute’s Smart City Project Team to take a leading role in the county’s smart city or Intelligent Community initiatives beginning in February 2023. After a careful review of policies and comparison with those of other cities and counties, the Team offered recommendations designed to better coordinate policies to achieve a common set of goals. The Team then provided training to departments within the county government and facilitated public workshops. The workshops provided a chance to communicate the county’s vision to citizens and gain valuable feedback from them.

Masters’ Degree Program in Intelligent City and Urban Planning

During 2023, three students completed research, submitted papers and received Masters’ degrees in Intelligent City and Urban Planning. Some of them proudly presented papers at the 19th Technology and Society Academic Conference in June. The Institute created its Masters’ Degree program in 2020.

Bicycle Project Team Offers Station Planning to Cities

In July 2023, the Public Bicycle Project Team of the Institute began collaboration with Keelung City government on planning for establishing bicycle stations. The project aims to enhance Keelung City’s green transportation system by setting up public bicycle stations connecting the important areas in the city. Last year, the Team completed similar projects in Hsinchu County and Pingtung County.

The ICF Institute in Taiwan is led by James Yeh, Assistant Professor at Chung Hua University in Hsinchu City.
