Stratford Chefs School planning downtown 'campus'

A $500,000 loan from the city could be a key ingredient in the Stratford Chefs School’s upcoming move to its new home downtown.

After some debate Tuesday, Stratford’s finance subcommittee approved a recommendation to provide that bridge financing for what will eventually become a chefs school “campus” on Ontario Street.

The school’s administrative offices are currently located at 192 Ontario St., in the strip plaza across from the Queen’s Inn, and new classrooms will be built in another unit (184) in that same plaza.

Just west on Ontario Street, in the Stratford Place building, the two westernmost units will be converted into a set of teaching kitchens and a roughly 55-seat restaurant.
